I understand the move to a subscription model for an independent dev, especially when it's one of the few third party apps that works with Feebly. Additionally, it's really the only one that actually works well. Where it stumbles is that the design is dated (and therefore works poorly with gesture navigation) and development isn't exactly ongoing. It still works, it's the only one that gives notifications for new unread articles, but it really needs a visual revamp. Lack of competition shows.

Excellent and powerful Newsreader. Can turn all feeds into full-text feeds (all with pictures, audio and video). The articles are automatically fetched and cached for offline access.

I paid for pro version, they delete it, and now I am stuck with awful ads

I bought gReader pro back in 2015, as it was the best google reader app on android. Eventually google reader shutdown, the dev made News+ to branch away from Google reader. The dev also added theoldreader support to greader, so I ended up buying both apps to ensure I could support the dev and continue using theoldreader on whichever app he kept alive. The dev then disappeared for four years, leaving the apps falling out of support of android and displaying weird visual artifacts because they're not fully compatible with modern android. That being said I continued using the apps as nothing else was released for theoldreader. After 4 years the dev came back, decided to disable all the paid-for functionality, and the pro key for greader apps, and demand users pay again. Even better, instead of paying again once more (which I wouldn't have even minded after a few years) we now need to pay a subscription... for a rss service he doesn't even provide. So I paid for News+ premium, last updated 2015. And gReader pro, last updated 5 months ago, had the greader pro key deleted by the dev, he added a bunch of ads, and stripped away functionality we already paid for, only for us to now need to pay monthly. The sheer greed in this decision is shocking, if I knew the dev was going to do this I would've had paid for his apps back then. For shame nonunion. Shameful behavior. And I see other users feel the same way. You at a minimum could've grandfathered us long-term users into the new system.
